ABOUT DYLAN GOURDINE

Dylan Gourdine is a young science enthusiast and storyteller who combines creativity with curiosity to make learning fun for kids. At just 13 years old, Dylan wrote “Mr. Phaser: The Phase-Changing Ice Cube”, to help young readers understand states of matter through an exciting, imaginative adventure. The concept of Mr. Phaser was originally created as part of a science project in school. Students were challenged to explore real-world science by studying how thermal heat energy impacts and transforms matter. Based on this, Dylan decided to turn his project into a children’s book to help kids understand this process of science in a fun and creative way.
Inspired by his love of science and his dream of becoming an infectious disease lab-based epidemiologist, Dylan believes that curiosity leads to discovery and that every question and concept is worth exploring.
When he’s not writing or researching, Dylan enjoys art, great food, traveling, reading, movies, and spending time with his family. Dylan was born in Maryland and currently resides in Mount Pleasant, SC (near Charleston), with his parents. His favorite time of the year is Christmas, as he was born on Christmas Day!
