ABOUT DYLAN GOURDINE

Dylan Gourdine is a young science enthusiast who combines creativity with curiosity to help make learning science fun and engaging for kids. At just 13 years old, Dylan wrote a book titled “Mr. Phaser: The Phase-Changing Ice Cube,” which helps young readers understand the science behind states of matter through an exciting and imaginative adventure.
The concept of Mr. Phaser was originally created as part of a science project in school. Students were challenged to explore real-world science by studying how thermal heat energy impacts and transforms matter. Based on this, Dylan decided to turn his project into a children’s book to help kids understand this process of science in a fun and creative way.
Inspired by his love of science and his dream of a career in public health and becoming a lab-based infectious disease epidemiologist, Dylan believes that curiosity leads to discovery and that every question and concept is worth exploring.
When he’s not writing or researching, Dylan enjoys art, great food, cooking, traveling, reading, watching movies, and spending time with his family. Dylan was born in Maryland and currently resides in Mount Pleasant, SC (near Charleston), with his parents. His favorite time of the year is Christmas, as he was born on Christmas Day!
